DME Solutions Appointed Sustainability & Green Building Consultant for Nexus Yang Green Data Centre Campus

DME Solutions is proud to be appointed as the Sustainability and Green Building Consultant for the Nexus Yang Green Data Centre Campus, a landmark hyperscale, AI-ready data centre development by Vena Nexus in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan.

The project represents one of Malaysia’s major new investments in digital infrastructure, with a planned long-term capital investment of approximately RM20 billion upon full build-out. Spanning approximately 157 acres within the NS Semiconductor Valley (NSSV), Nexus Yang is planned with an initial target IT load of approximately 350 MW, supporting next-generation artificial intelligence, cloud computing and hyperscale digital infrastructure.

As Sustainability and Green Building Consultant, DME Solutions will support the project team in integrating sustainability considerations throughout the design and development process, including the project’s pursuit of GreenRE and LEED green building certifications.

The rapid growth of AI and cloud computing is creating unprecedented demand for data centre capacity across Southeast Asia. At the same time, the significant energy and resource requirements of hyperscale data centres make sustainability, energy efficiency and decarbonisation increasingly important considerations in their planning and operation.

Nexus Yang has been conceived as a Green Data Centre Campus, bringing together hyperscale digital infrastructure and integrated green energy solutions.

Vena Nexus has highlighted its approach of integrating green power systems and grid-responsive capabilities from the concept design stage, with the objective of supporting the continued growth of Malaysia’s digital economy while addressing its environmental and social impacts.

For DME Solutions, the project therefore goes beyond achieving certification. Our role is to work alongside the wider project team to translate these sustainability ambitions into practical, measurable and technically achievable strategies.

DME Solutions’ sustainability consultancy will encompass key aspects of green building and sustainable data centre development, with particular emphasis on:

  • GreenRE certification consultancy
  • LEED certification consultancy
  • Sustainability strategy and green building integration
  • Energy efficiency and building performance optimisation
  • Energy modelling and performance assessment
  • Water efficiency and resource conservation
  • Sustainable materials and environmental considerations
  • Carbon reduction and decarbonisation strategies
  • Coordination of sustainability requirements across the multidisciplinary design and construction teams
  • Technical documentation, assessment and certification support

Through the parallel pursuit of GreenRE and LEED certification, the project will be evaluated against both regional and internationally recognised sustainability benchmarks.

The objective is not simply to accumulate certification points, but to identify measures that can contribute meaningfully to the environmental performance of a highly energy-intensive facility while remaining practical for a hyperscale data centre environment.

The Nexus Yang development reflects the increasing convergence between digital infrastructure, renewable energy, energy efficiency and decarbonisation.

Located within the NS Semiconductor Valley and the wider Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 development corridor, the campus is expected to be developed over multiple phases. Upon full operation, the development is expected to support approximately 190 permanent high-skilled positions, while generating wider opportunities for engineering, technology and specialist service providers.

For DME Solutions, our involvement in Nexus Yang builds upon our growing portfolio of complex and technically demanding data centre projects.

Data centres require a different sustainability approach from conventional commercial buildings. Cooling systems, electrical infrastructure, IT loads, redundancy requirements, water consumption and 24-hour operation all have significant implications for environmental performance. Achieving meaningful sustainability outcomes therefore requires green building strategies to be integrated with the fundamental engineering and operational requirements of the facility.

This is where DME Solutions brings together green building certification, engineering analysis, energy modelling and decarbonisation expertise as an integrated sustainability service.

Our appointment to Nexus Yang reflects DME Solutions’ broader mission to help shape the next generation of sustainable development across Asia.

We Decarbonise by identifying science-based opportunities to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

We Manage by translating sustainability ambitions and certification requirements into practical strategies that can be implemented by project teams.

And we Empower by working collaboratively with developers, designers, contractors and stakeholders to embed sustainability knowledge throughout the project lifecycle.

As Malaysia continues to emerge as an important regional destination for AI and digital infrastructure investment, DME Solutions is proud to contribute our sustainability and green building expertise to Nexus Yang and to support the development of more efficient, resilient and responsible digital infrastructure.

Building the infrastructure for the AI era should not only be about greater computing capacity — it should also be about creating that capacity responsibly.

At DME Solutions, we are proud to play our part in making that transition possible.
